CONSULTATION ON SCHOOL TERM AND HOLIDAY DATES FOR THE 2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR
The Local Authority (LA) is consulting on the draft school term and holiday dates for the 2025-26 academic year which will apply to Community and Voluntary Controlled schools. Academies, Voluntary Aided, Foundation and Free schools, can set their own term dates and holidays, although most choose to align their dates with those set by Somerset County Council.

Somerset Statement of Community Involvement Consultation
The new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) will set out how Somerset Council will involve our communities, organisations and other interested parties in the planning process. This includes when we prepare and consult on our future planning policy documents, including our Local Plan, and how we will involve people and organisations when we assess and decide on planning applications for new development. We are consulting on the draft SCI from 1st February 2023 to 16th March 2023.

2024/25 School or Academy Admission Arrangements Consultation
This consultation applies to the admission arrangements for Somerset Local Authority and other Somerset schools and academies and is available from 5 December 2022 to 23 January 2023. For further information on the changes proposed, please view the admission arrangements you are interested in and the front sheet of each set of arrangements will give further details. The consultation allows parents, schools, religious authorities, the local community and interested parties to comment on the proposed admission arrangements. To give your feedback please email admissionsconsultation@somerset.gov.uk or click on the 'respond by filling in the online questionnaire' link below the documents. The feedback will be considered by Somerset Local Authority or passed onto the relevant Admission Authority.

Building the future together – a new SEND strategy We want to improve lives for people who have Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and their families. To do this, we need your help – by completing this consultation, you are helping us make sure that our plans reflect your needs. The new Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy (our shared plans for the future) will take effect from 2023 to 2026, and will help organisations and communities work together to achieve shared goals to improve lives. It will identify what we want to do, when we want to do it, and how we will achieve improvements. It will help us all work together to ensure that children and young people with SEND have the same rights and choices as all other children in Somerset.

Somerset UKSPF Rural Fund
Somerset has been awarded £3.4m of Government funding for the rural economy. The fund will run from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2025. This consultation will help to inform the priorities for the rural economy which will be submitted to Government by the end of November 2022. Please note this fund does not cover Taunton, Bridgwater or Yeovil.

Significant Change proposal for Selworthy Special School by The Oak Partnership Trust
The Oak Partnership Trust proposes an expansion of Selworthy Special School from September 2022 onto an additional site at the Wellington Young People’s Centre at Mantle Street, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 8SW. The expansion will provide 15 new school places with the first of those becoming available in September 2022.
