This consultation will contain questions regarding the suggested proposals put forward to transform the education provision in Crewkerne and Ilminster.

Proposed expansion of Robert Blake Science College

In accordance with section 19 (1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and the statutory guidance for proposers and decision makers ‘Making significant changes (‘prescribed alterations’) to maintained schools, October 2018, a proposal is being published by Somerset County Council, County Hall, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 4DY regarding the expansion of Robert Blake Science College from 900 to 1200 places. The proposal is an enlargement of the premises to increase the capacity of Robert Blake Science College following the relocation of Elmwood Special School to a new purpose built facility. Within four weeks from the date of publication of this proposal, any person object to, or make comments on the proposal.

2022/23 School Admission Arrangements Consultation

This consultation applies to the admission arrangements for Somerset Local Authority and other Somerset schools and academies and is available from 4th December 2020 to 15th January 2021. For further information on the changes proposed, please view the admission arrangements you are interested in and the front sheet of each set of arrangements will give further details. The admission arrangements for academies within the Wessex Learning Trust and Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust are named by Trust not the individual academy. The consultation allows parents, schools, religious authorities, the local community and interested parties to comment on the proposed admission arrangements. The feedback will be considered by Somerset Local Authority or passed onto the relevant Admission Authority.

Proposed Changes to Provision at Penrose and Elmwood Special Schools in Bridgwater

Although the County Council and Federated Governing Body view the two existing schools as amalgamating, one school technically has to close while the other expands its provision. Therefore, the proposals being consulted on were as follows: (1) Penrose Special School is proposed to close at the end of the current academic year; (2) Elmwood Special School’s registered capacity is proposed to increase from 88 to 200 places; (3) Elmwood Special School is proposed to extend its age range from 11-19 to 4-19 in order to accommodate existing Penrose pupils.

Proposed Expansion of Sky College in Taunton

The proposals are that Sky College will be expanded during the 2021/22 academic year in order to: (1) create an additional 40 places (i.e. from 80 to 120 places) (2) admit pupils with Speech, Language And Communication Needs (i.e. in addition to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs) (3) increase its age range to accommodate children from five years of age (i.e. a change of age range from 10-16 to 5-16).

Expansion of Fairmead and Fiveways Special Schools, Yeovil You can Respond Online

It is proposed that from September 2021, the County Council will expand both Fairmead and Fiveways Schools. • Fairmead School is proposed to increase its registration from 80 places to 140 places. • Fiveways School is proposed to increase its registration from 70 places to 100 places.
