Joint LEP Energy Strategy

Introduction to the consultation process

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) invited Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) to apply for funding to develop an energy strategy, or to develop the evidence base for their area. The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly (CIoS), Dorset and Heart of the South West (HoTSW) LEPs submitted a combined bid to develop an energy strategy and delivery plan, and were awarded grant funding from the BEIS Energy Strategy Support Grant Determination.

The objective of the LEPs in commissioning this strategy and delivery plan is to ensure that they can target their support to enable the realisation of economic benefits from the transition to a low carbon economy, within the three LEP areas. In order to ensure these benefits are maximised, businesses need the right environment and opportunities to start, grow and innovate.

The three LEPs have been working with the Carbon Trust since September 2017 to develop their energy strategy and delivery plan. This process has involved two separate rounds of stakeholder engagement and workshops. Following stakeholder feedback, that an opportunity to comment on the documents would be strongly welcomed, the three LEPs have commissioned an extension to the process to include a stakeholder consultation. Stakeholder feedback on the strategy and delivery plan will be immensely valuable, and will strengthen the approach to ensure that the vision is realised.

If you would like to partake in the consultation, please read the two documents in advance of responding to the questionnaire. Before each question is a short explanation adding context and a page number to the relevant section of one of the documents. All responses will be analysed and will help to inform the final strategy and delivery plan.

Thank you in advance for your time and input into the consultation process.
